Originally from Maine Phillip grew up in the middle of the woods logging, fishing, and listening to his father play bluegrass guitar. The reception was limited and from his small FM radio he could get one station, an oldies station that played mostly New Orleans classics. This radio station sparked his love of music, and at a young age he taught himself how to play the piano. At the age of 10 he picked up a Saxophone for the first time and immediately knew that was his calling.

As a teenager he moved to Juneau Alaska and continued playing under the tutelage of his band director Ken Guiher, and his private teacher Todd Hunt. After graduating high school he attended the Lionel Hampton School of Music in Moscow Idaho. While attending college, through the International Jazz Festival they host every year he was exposed to some of the worlds leading contemporary Jazz musicians including John Clayton, Jeff Hamilton, Roy Hargrove, Igor Butman, and many more. And during those festivals he was able to receive private lessons from a number of those artists.

In 2011 Phillip took a road trip to New Orleans, and after a weekend in the big easy he never left! He jumped feet first into the music scene, and quickly became an in-demand freelance saxophonist, playing his first gigs in town on Bourbon street and Frenchmen street, and as a session musician at various studios in town.

He’s toured the East coast, the West Coast with Eric Lindell, and most of the South and Parts of Mexico.

It was through Fudge Studios (now owned by Trombone Shorty) that Phillip met the “Bag of Donuts” in 2012, and began playing the occasional show with the 35 year strong cover band. Year after year he got called more and more until, in 2017 they decided to hire Phillip and Ian Smith (trumpet) full-time.

It was through this band that Phillip met his wife Kelsey Coste, a photographer and videographer, and it was love at first site! They were married in the spring of 2021 and Since then they’ve begun to work together offering photography and videography packages and releasing music and music videos, a true power couple.

Phillip has kicked off his solo career at the end of 2022 with the release of his first single ““The Dream”, available everywhere music is streamed of sold! Or you can purchase it here, directly from his website!
